Prince George County Police Department
6600 Courthouse Road
Prince George, VA 23875
Located at 6600 Courthouse Road, the Prince George County Police Department is a progressive, mid-sized law enforcement agency. On July 1st 1995, the Police Department officially separated from the Sheriff’s Office and became the primary law enforcement department for the County. Prince George County is one of only nine counties in Virginia that have a Sheriff’s Office and a Police Department.
The diversified staff includes 56 sworn law enforcement officers, 12 volunteer Auxiliary Officers, 4 Animal Services Officers, 16 Communications Officers and 7 civilian support personnel. There are 5 volunteer Police Chaplains from within the County who are available to assist the Department at any time of the day, seven days a week. The Department takes great pride in our community relationships and our proactive, problem solving approach to duty. The Police Department is organized into two service units: The Field Operations Division and the Support Services Division.
In January of 2014, a huge milestone for this Department and Prince George County was accomplished when the Police Department was formally presented the Certificate of State Accreditation from the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission. This significant accomplishment was attained as a result of the hard work and commitment to Professional Service by all the Men and Women of the Police Department.
