Celebration:  African Americans in Time of War

In observance of Black History Month, a special program is scheduled for Thursday, February 22 at 7:00 pm. The program will consist of two parts. The first part is entitled Poetry in Song and will be presented by Ms. Ferricia Fatia. Along with an extensive list of awards and accomplishments, Ms. Fatia was the recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which enabled her to self-publish a collection of poems entitled Lightworks Freestyle. She has participated in award-winning poetry and musical documentaries.

The second half of the program is entitled A Profile of African Americans in Wartime, presented by Chief Master Sergeant Howard Lee III (Ret). Mr. Lee is retired career military, with thirty years of service in our nation’s Air Force.

I want the work I do to bring forth life,
not merely imitate or distort it.
