´Hogs for the House' is Sept. 14

PRINCE GEORGE — The James House will sponsor its third annual “Hogs for the House” Cook-Off Saturday, Sept. 14, at Colonial Harley-Davidson on Temple Avenue.

Professional and amateur teams will battle it out to claim the Judge’s Choice Award and People’s Choice Award prizes. If you are a grilling and outdoor cooking enthusiast, come out and show off your skills and take a chance at earning the bragging rights that go along with winning one of those two awards. There also will have food trucks, restaurants, and experienced grillers.

The public is welcome to taste the results of the competition from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm. Entrance into the venue is free. Tasting tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online at thejameshouse.org/events or at the venue on the day of the event. Your voting ballot gives you one chance to vote for the People’s Choice winner - pick your favorite team! Results for both Judge’s and People’s Choice Awards will be announced at 3:40 pm. Additional food will be available for purchase.

This family-friendly event will also feature live music by Anderson Highway, a 50/50 Raffle, motorcycle services, a diversity of vendors, raffle prizes, and silent auction. Proceeds from the event will go to James House, a local non-profit agency that provides support, advocacy, and education for people in the Greater Tri-Cities Region affected by sexual violence, domestic violence, and stalking to empower them to become healthy, safe, and self-sufficient. All services are trauma-informed, cost-free, confidential, and available in both English and Spanish. 24-hour crisis line (804) 458-2840, main office (804) 458-2704, www.thejameshouse.orghelpline@thejameshouse.org.
