Prince George County Public Schools - Water Testing Results Letter to Parents

April 30, 2019

Dear Prince George Families:

Prince George County Public Schools (PGCPS) has completed the sampling of drinking water from schools throughout the division under the requirements of legislation enacted to ensure that schools have a safe, clean water supply for consumption by students and staff.  These samples were collected from drinking fountains, cafeteria/kitchen taps, and combination sinks/water fountains.

The following buildings’ results indicate that the samples are within acceptable ranges per the Virginia Department of Health:

L.L. Beazley Elementary School, W.A. Walton Elementary School, P.G. Education Center,

Bus Garage, Field House, Concession Stand, Maintenance Building, and the School Board Office

The remaining buildings have samples that are being addressed based on the recommendations from The EI Group, Inc.  Environmental, Health and Safety Solutions who serve as our industrial hygiene consultant and completed the testing.  These recommendations include the flushing for extended periods of time and retesting of all the identified faucets.  Each of these areas will be closed off until they have been remediated and retested.  Bottled water will be provided in the locations needed.

The results of these assessments will be posted on the division website.  If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Mr. Ron Rhodes, Director of Operations, at (804) 733-2700.

Thank you,

Renee Williams                                             Lisa Pennycuff, Ed.D.
