June 8 – Arias & Duets of LOVE at Historic Battersea – Virginia Opera will be presenting music from favorite operas and Broadway shows on the beautiful rolling lawn of Historic Battersea. This year they will be featuring music from shows that were on Broadway in 1969, to celebrate the 50th birthday of Virginia is for Lovers. This event is FREE. Gates open at 5:00 PM for patrons to enjoy the lawn, so bring a chair or blanket and maybe a picnic. It is a very family-friendly event. As Virginia celebrates the 50th year of Virginia is for Lovers, the Heritage Center celebrates the Prince George County couples who have literally lived it. This special tribute exhibit is comprised of loaned photos, memorabilia, wedding attire, from 50 years or more. This year also celebrates the Heritage Center’s 10th anniversary, so this is an exhibit to me celebrated and not to be missed!

Special Exhibit at Keystone Truck & Tractor Museum – Wait until you see the 1969 RV that is on display – it is in perfect condition and those campers in 1969 were traveling in luxury! It is gorgeous!. AND, do not forget to take a photo in front of the museum’s unique LOVE sign and share it will all of your friends! It all started with a little boy in rural Southside Virginia who fell in LOVE with his uncle’s farm tractor. Now this museum houses hundreds of vintage tractors, trucks, cars in perfect condition, plus an amazing collection of memorabilia from country stores, gas station signs, vintage toys and more. Swift Creek Mill Theatre:
During the 50 Days of LOVE, Swift Creek Mill will be spearheading a Facebook effort to reach out and find those special, poignant LOVE stories from throughout The Best PART of Virginia. Maybe they are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year, or maybe they met while one or both were stationed at Fort Lee. Each person who submits their story will receive a reduced price ticket to be used at Swift Creek Mill Theatre through mid July. Two couples will be selected to enjoy a wonderful date night of dinner with champagne and the current musical Bright Star at the Mill on May 11th.
