PRINCE GEORGE — A Hopewell motorcyclist is in custody after leading Virginia State Police on a chase Sunday morning that started in Richmond and ended on Interstate 95 in Prince George County, about 30 miles away.
State Police Sgt. Keeli Hill said the chase started shortly before 8 a.m. near the Maury Street exit on I-95. Hill said the cyclist refused to stop when a state trooper began pursuing him.
The chase continued through Chesterfield, Colonial Heights and Petersburg before the suspect wrecked his motorcycle near the 38-mile marker in Prince George County.
Along the way, Hill said, the cyclist struck three state police cars, resulting in minor damage.
The suspect, 28-year-old Richard Charles Rodriguez-Arteaga, was not injured when he wrecked, Hill said. He was taken to Riverside Regional Jail, where he faces a total of 13 charges in three localities.
Hill said the investigation is continuing.
