January 2019

What's New in 2019

We hope you survived the Holidays with your belt lines intact and your energy restored because alas, it's time to get back in the groove and make stuff happen in 2019 (and have some fun). So, without further ado, here's the January skinny!

Conall Fee, 2019 President of the Chamber Board of Directors and Operations Manager at Rolls-Royce Crosspointe.

Letter from some guy you may be meeting for the first time; our new President, Conall Fee.

Dear Fellow Members,

The HPG Chamber turns 100 in September, 2020. Well, many organizational leaders have preceded us and a great deal of resources have gone into projects, events, relationships, and ideals over the years. The landscape, culture and industry have changed a great deal in the last 100 years, but our responsibility remains largely unchanged; protect and improve the business environment and the area supporting it.

Recognizing that change is not going to slow down, we have a great opportunity by focusing on the future and what we need to do differently today to ensure that the Chamber is agile and our region is dynamic and enticing. A huge factor in how successful we will be rests on how many people we can engage in the process of imagining and creating what the Chamber will look like tomorrow, next month, next year…..and beyond. Clearly this starts with the Chamber having a good understanding of what its Member’s expectations are, and what you-all would like to see more of or less of going forward. If you have a minute to share your thoughts, please email: admin@hpgchamber.org.

We envision a Chamber that takes action, is bold and collaborative. It’s going to be an exciting year and I’m honored to be the President.

We're taking RVA!

Chamber Day at the Capitol and the Old Dominion Assembly Legislative Reception (say that five times fast) is upon us, and we intend to send a delegation. Going north of the Rivers is safest in numbers, so, jump on that early bird rate and join Becky McDonough and Jim Williams for this important advocacy activity. Five or more gets us a discount, y'all!

I'll have your people call our people. Or... wait, is that what works?

Our people (members) know that engagement (business) is more than online social media. We like to talk to people in person - real friendly face time. That's right! We're talking about good old fashion phone calls and visits when stuff gets done. So if we call or stop by, please take a moment. We promise we're not trying to sell you anything.

Happy New Year, y'all!
