(Prince George, VA) – Police Investigating Shooting

On December 2, 2018, at approximately 11:35 a.m., members of the Prince George County Police Department were dispatched to the 2900 block of Morrell Avenue to investigate a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.  Officers arrived on scene to find a male subject standing on the driveway of the residence holding a firearm. While officers were verbally challenging the male subject to put the weapon down, the offender pointed the firearm at the officers before contemporaneously turning the weapon on himself and pulling the trigger.  The offender was pronounced deceased on scene.  Officers on scene did not discharge their firearms.

The preliminary investigation revealed the offender and his wife were having a verbal argument. Upon the female victim retreating into a bedroom, the offender fired one shot at her.  As the altercation continued, the offender exited the dwelling firing a second shot at the victim through a window.  The victim was still inside of the house when the second shot was fired.   The female victim was able to flee to a neighbor’s house; she was not struck by a bullet.

The male suspect was identified as Jeffrey Schall, age 60, of Prince George County. This is currently an ongoing investigation.

Jeffrey Schall’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for an autopsy.
