Gee, Soto, Lambert, Morris among new-look Royals team’s leaders

PRINCE GEORGE - It’s a brand new look for the Royals in 2018 going into 2019.

Prince George Boys Basketball is coming off of a successful 14-9 season, but lost all five of its 2017-18 starters to graduation.

The Royals are looking to Patrick Gee, Johnny Soto, Jajour Lambert and football standout Tavian Morris to lead the team. The Royals will also feature a newcomer from Alaska in Jacob Thompson.

Prince George Basketball head coach Travis Carr noted that this year’s team is much smaller, but quicker, faster and better in shooting from the outside. He pointed out that the biggest challenge his Royals will face is players stepping into new roles this season.

Carr added that playing against tougher opponents like Hopewell, Matoaca and Petersburg - as well as playing in the Rebel Invitational and Tri-City Holiday Classic - will help the Royals towards the postseason.

Carr said this season will be successful for the Royals if they can defend and “get out in transition, while getting production from the bench.”
