Richard Bland College was the recipient of a $10,000 grant from Dominion Energy to revitalize the Nature Trail. More than 135 RBC students along with faculty members and 47 volunteers from Dominion Energy helped in the effort. Trail improvements included graveling the mile-long path, building a new footbridge, stairs and retaining wall. The entrance was spruced up with mulch, shrubs, bee boxes, 120 native annual plants, and a new sign. Photo Gallery

ASIAN WATER GARDEN WELCOMES NEW RESIDENTS
William A. Patton of Petersburg has donated 14 large Koi fish to Richard Bland College. The colorful carp, originally found in Central Europe and Asia, have a new home in the Asian Water Garden. Transporting Koi from one location to another is a delicate process. They are cold-water fish and require time to migrate and get acclimated into new conditions. The College appreciates the donation of fish that are a symbol of “luck, prosperity and good fortune in Japan.”

LIBRARY AND CAFE UNDERGO FACELIFT
The Richard Bland College Library received a fresh, updated look over the summer with new paint, lighting, and flooring. The modern facelift included enhanced workspaces and new furniture. "The renovation has transformed the library into an active learning environment that meets the needs of RBC students, whether that be a space for group collaboration or individual study," says Head Librarian Carly Winfield Baskerville.
The Richard Bland College Cafe now boasts a new look with an expanded menu of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Statesman Grill features favorites like homemade meatloaf and chicken parmesan, while the most popular addition to the cafe has been a specialty pizza and deli station. Both projects were funded by a matching grant from the Mary Morton Parsons Foundation.
