Prince George County roundabout to be named
“Captain Jesse A. Ozbat Memorial Circle” on October 11
Location moved to Clark Fitness Center

On October 11, 2018 at 10:30am, in a joint partnership between Prince George County, Fort Lee and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the roundabout at the Fort Lee Adams Avenue access gate will be officially dedicated the “Captain Jesse A. Ozbat Memorial Circle”.  Due to inclement weather, the invitation only event is planned to occur inside at Clark Fitness Center, 800 “C” Avenue, Building 2414, Fort Lee.  

On March 27, 2018, the Prince George County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to authorize a request to Fort Lee and VDOT to name the roundabout at the entrance of Fort Lee Gate “A”, Route 634 (Allin Road) and Route 630 (Jefferson Park Road and Bull Hill Road) in memory of Captain Jesse A. Ozbat. 

Captain Jesse A. Ozbat, U.S. Army, 28, of Prince George County, VA was killed in action by a suicide bomber on May 20, 2012 in Tarin Kowt Afghanistan.  Captain Ozbat was a 2002 graduate of Prince George High School and a 2006 graduate of Virginia State University, finishing in the top 10 percent of all cadets nationwide.  Captain Ozbat received his commission on May 13, 2006. He served with the 1st and 14th Infantry, 2nd Stryker Brigade in Iraq, and with the 214th Fires Brigade at Fort Sill, and assigned to the 168 Brigade Support Battalion in Afghanistan.  Captain Ozbat’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
