(Prince George, VA) – Increased traffic due to coastal evacuations
To prepare for possible local impacts, Prince George County Public Safety has been working closely with members of Emergency Management, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and County Administration for preparations. Due, in part, to motorists traveling away from coastal areas, we have noticed an increase in traffic along some of our major arteries, to include Route 460 and Route 10. We are asking our citizens to be mindful of the evacuations and avoid unnecessary travel for the next few days.
Prince George County urges citizens and business owners to take precaution and be prepared. Please visit the Virginia Department of Emergency Management website to review the Prepare and Recover Plan. The Prepare and Recover Plan include preparation tips for your family and pets, significant state and federal emergency phone numbers, and evacuation routes for the State.
The Prince George County Emergency Services will continue to actively monitor Hurricane Florence throughout the week and into the weekend as weather conditions are fluid and subject to change. We will continue to update our citizens and business owners through the local media, Prince George County website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
