Summer Cooling Assistance
The Cooling Program is in full swing and not a moment too late. With temperatures just gearing up, residents can receive assistance to keep cool this summer.
Virginia Department of Social Services will be providing eligible households, on a first come, first serve basis, with cooling assistance. Applications are being accepted from June 15 to August 15. Those eligible for cooling assistance must currently have a senior citizen (age 60 or older), a child under six years old, or a handicapped family member living in their home. To ensure those eligible for assistance are able to have their needs met, it is essential that you apply as soon as possible.
Assistance is being offered with electric bills, the purchase and installation of AC window units, and repair of AC (central or heat pump) units.
