Prince George County Recognized with Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
for 13th Consecutive Year for Fiscal Year 2024 Budget

Prince George, VA - Prince George County has been awarded the prestigious Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.

With more than 1,700 participants, Prince George County’s budget award signifies a major accomplishment. It reflects the commitment of the county’s governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To attain this prestigious recognition, Prince George County had to adhere to nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These criteria evaluate the extent to which a locality’s budget functions as a policy document, financial plan, operational guide, and communication tool. To qualify for the award, budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.

Betsy Drewry, Deputy County Administrator, and her Finance department were presented with a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation as being primarily responsible for having achieved the award. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America. The County Finance Department has received this award for 13 years.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 22,500 members and the communities they serve.
